Help together – grow together – show solidarity!

Solidarity is contagious, it creates relationships and encourages combined action – a phenomenon that was experienced in a very special way by the pupils, parents and staff of the “Max Valier” school, a technological upper secondary in Bozen, during the 2012/2013 school year. The concerted aim of supporting a centre for “child slaves in Haiti” triggered an enormous willingness to help.

During the parents’ days almost 100 parents of pupils brought tasty treats to sell in the school. 15 pupils distributed the cakes in exchange for a voluntary donation. Other students sold lavender bags during the run up to Christmas. And a very special gesture of solidarity was demonstrated by the pupils at the school Christmas party – every pupil donated 50 cents for the project. Teachers and administrative staff also joined in the various activities and donated too.

Over the year donations amounting to a total of almost € 5,000 were collected. Those who followed the various activities could see for themselves that, through talking together and working together as a group in aid of a good cause, those who were directly involved were drawn closer together on a human level.
